Our signature dining venue offers panoramic views of Nuwara Eliya’s misty mountains through floor-to-ceiling windows. The Observatory specializes in contemporary Sri Lankan cuisine with a sophisticated European influence. Our executive chef sources the freshest local ingredients, including vegetables from nearby farms and herbs from our own garden, to create seasonal menus that showcase the best of the region.
Menu highlights include Ceylon tea-infused dishes, highland lamb specialties, and innovative preparations of freshly caught lake fish. An extensive wine list featuring both Old and New World selections complements your dining experience.

The Colonial Tea Lounge
Step back in time in our elegant tea lounge, where the British tradition of afternoon tea meets Sri Lankan hospitality. Set in the original drawing room of the colonial bungalow, with authentic period furnishings and a crackling fireplace, this is the perfect setting to enjoy our signature high tea service.
Our tea menu features premium single-estate teas from surrounding plantations, served with traditional Sri Lankan savories and sweets alongside classic British tea accompaniments. The signature London Eye High Tea includes cucumber sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, Sri Lankan love cake, and cardamom-spiced shortbread.

The Mist Bar
Nestled in a cozy corner of the property with a covered outdoor terrace, The Mist Bar is named for the enchanting evening fog that often envelops Nuwara Eliya. This intimate space offers expertly crafted cocktails, premium spirits, and a selection of local and international beers.
Our signature cocktails incorporate local ingredients such as Ceylon tea, cinnamon, and exotic fruits. The bar menu features sophisticated small plates perfect for sharing.

Farm-to-Table Experience
Our commitment to sustainability comes to life through our farm-to-table program. We partner with local farmers to source the freshest seasonal produce, much of which is grown less than 10 kilometers from our hotel. Guests can participate in guided visits to our partner farms, followed by a special dinner featuring the ingredients they’ve seen harvested that day.
Tea-Inspired Gastronomy
As a tribute to Nuwara Eliya’s tea heritage, we’ve developed a unique culinary program that incorporates Ceylon tea into innovative dishes and beverages. Our five-course Tea Degustation Menu pairs different varieties of local tea with complementary dishes, offering a truly unique culinary journey that can only be experienced in Sri Lanka’s tea country.
